Arctic Monkeys’ Alex Turner, Hozier and Jorja Smith are among the Sony/ATV songwriters receiving nominations at this year’s Ivor Novello Awards

Alex Turner and Hozier are both nominated for Best Song Musically & Lyrically with Turner represented by “Four Out Of Five” from his group’s sixth studio album Tranquility Base Hotel & Casio. Hozier is competing with “Nina Cried Power”, having won the same category in 2015 with “Take Me To Church”.

After winning British Female Solo Artist at the BRIT Awards in February, Jorja Smith now has an Ivors nomination. Her song “Blue Lights”, which was co-written by Sony/ATV songwriters Guy Bonnet and Roland Romanelli, appears in the Best Contemporary Song category where Sony/ATV songwriters Daniel Miles and Jojo Mukeza are nominated for co-writing “Black Rose”, which was recorded by Ghetts featuring Kojey Radical.

Sony/ATV additionally publishes two of the three nominated songs for PRS for Music Most Performed Work. The company’s Jamie Scott is nominated for co-writing the Rudimental featuring Jess Glynne hit “These Days” and Fred Gibson is nominated for George Ezra’s “Shotgun”.

Sony/ATV’s Daniel Pemberton is nominated for Best Original Film Score for Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse and there are nominations for Arthur Sharpe for Flowers (Series 2) and Dominik Scherrer for Requiem for Best Television Soundtrack.

This year’s Ivor Novello Awards will take place at the Grosvenor House Hotel in London on May 23rd.
