Here at Soho Music we thought there’s a no better way to celebrate International Women’s Day then putting together our top 10 Women to watch 2016. There’s some incredible female talent rising through the ranks this year, so check out our carefully picked Spotify playlist at the bottom of the page…. You’ll be seeing a lot of these ladies over the next few months, we’re certainly backing their sound and success. So from Soho Music, Happy International Day to all the ladies!
To kick things of here’s three of our favourites:
Smerz - Relatively unknown Norwegian electronic production/vocal duo based in Copenhagen. These girls are putting the finishing touches on their debut EP and have caused a stir after premiering their uber cool elect-pop track ‘Because’ via ID early this year.
Bibi Bourelly - German singer/songwriter signed to Def Jam who is now based in LA. At only 21 years of age, Bibi had already written songs for Rhianna, Selena Gomez and Nick Brewer before embarking on her solo career.
Jorja Smith - Vocal debuts don’t get much better than this from 18-year-old singer/song writer Jorja Smith. Originally from Walsall, she now resides in London. Jorja’s debut ‘Blue Lights’ is a stirring listen, backed by her angelic, gripping vocals and a knack for poignant story telling. The sample of choice is Dizzee Rascal’s ‘Sirens,’ a song she describes as “the beginning of my journey.”
