MOIRAI has announced the signing of award-winning writer and director Sing J. Lee. This partnership marks an exciting chapter in Sing’s career as he expands his creative footprint in the UK market place, following the acclaimed US theatrical release of his Sundance-winning directorial feature debut, The Accidental Getaway Driver.
Born in Manchester and of Hong Kong descent, Sing is known for his distinct visual language, often exploring the human condition. Following wide recognition for his short films, including BBC's Best of the North, Sing was commissioned by the British Council to direct a sci-fi adaptation of A Midsummer Night’s Dream. His commercials for Adidas, Google, Amazon Music, Havana Club, Cass Beer, and G-star have received international acclaim, winning Cannes Lions and Clio Awards. Named one of Variety's Top Ten Storytellers to Watch in 2019, he has collaborated with globally renowned artists on the VMAs. The BRIT Awards have recognised his music films with Pharrell, Alicia Keys, Charli XCX, Donald Glover, Raye, The Killers, Muse, and more.
In 2023, Sing’s select work was showcased at the Barbican Centre as part of Carrie Mae Weems: Reflections for Now exhibition, and he was subsequently named a BAFTA Breakthrough Fellow that same year.
“MOIRAI is dedicated to representing innovative and visionary talent, and Sing J. Lee is a perfect addition to our roster,” said Andrew Porteous, co-founder. “We are eager to work together and support his artistic journey, connecting him with exciting opportunities in the UK and beyond.”
“I am thrilled to join MOIRAI and look forward to working with their incredible team,” said Sing. “The UK has always been a forward thinking hub for storytelling, and I am excited to engage with its thriving landscape across all formats.”
