In the ever-evolving world of digital innovation, one name has recently been making waves: Vision. A ground breaking new department within Le Polish Bureau, Vision is at the forefront of designing and developing spatial applications for the much-anticipated Apple Vision Pro headset. With their unique approach and cutting-edge ideas, they are redefining the boundaries of XR technology.
In this exclusive interview with Le Polish Bureau’s managing partner Maciej Zasada, we delve into the origins, mission, and aspirations of Vision. Discover how they blend a decade of VR and AR expertise with a fervent desire to reimagine human-technology interaction. We explore their primary mission of crafting utilitarian spatial applications that redefine information consumption and interaction, making it more efficient, convenient, and exciting.
Maciej> Vision is a new department that we recently opened within Le Polish Bureau that is fully dedicated to designing and developing spatial applications for the upcoming Apple Vision Pro headset.
Maciej> It is the result of the combination of our decade-long practical experience in creating VR and AR applications combined with our founder’s passion for trying to reimagine how humans can one day interact with technology and with information. So having all the tools available, the announcement of Apple Vision Pro and its visionOS operating system provided us with a natural platform to continue pushing what’s possible in XR.
Maciej> We aim to create utilitarian spatial applications that simply could not exist on any other medium. Ones that reimagine the consumption of- and interaction with information, making it more convenient, more efficient, or more exciting than ever before. But ideally - all those three together.
Maciej> Our team has been dedicating most research and development time to solutions in the areas of e-commerce, education, automotive, and social networking, so clients and startups looking to create new Apple Vision Pro applications in these categories will benefit from our services the most. However, all other brands, start-ups, and agencies are welcome to reach out.
Maciej> The last few years have been showcasing significant advancements in the area of Machine Learning. With the introduction of ChatGPT and similar language models, as well as generative AI tools, people understood that AI can have an actual, measurable impact on their productivity. Meanwhile, AR and VR hardware was improving, resulting in the release of newer and better headsets. Finally, there was the announcement of Apple Vision Pro. Where we come into the process is by merging these two trends into a single stream of work, creating spatial applications that tap into the power of AI to offer unrivalled productivity and user experience that has not been possible before, on any other platform.
Maciej> We believe that Apple’s adoption of AR and the birth of visionOS is the beginning of a new era of spatial computing. We can look at it similar to the birth of the iPhone and iOS, which became a leading software platform. However now, Apple has even more experience, we all have more Apple devices, and hardware has become exponentially more powerful, making it very likely an even larger revolution.
Maciej> Our Apple Vision Pro app - Closer demonstrates our Vision team’s ambition and mission statement come to life. The utility app that has been awarded with an FWA as the first Apple Vision Pro application in history, is a voice communicator completely re-imagined for spatial computing in the AI-powered era. Voice messages sent through the app get expanded by AI into a rich, three-dimensional, highly visual, and personal format that, when played back by the recipient, lets them literally see what the sender had to say. We are currently working on an iOS counterpart for the app to turn it into a widely available product.
Maciej> Our concept for Closer and the demo that we developed got us into the Apple Vision Pro developer labs during which we were able to experience our app on the actual Apple Vision Pro headset, which has not been publicly released yet. This has proven to be an invaluable experience for our team.
Maciej> There are several components that help us ensure technological excellence. The most important are:
- We have an internal value checklist that we reference for each concept, ensuring that the idea we have in mind is not only cool, but also solves an actual problem, and does it better than any other app available on 2D platforms.
- We rely on more than a decade of our practical, commercial experience in designing and developing XR applications, so we have plenty of ideas that have already been tried and tested by us in the past.
- We proactively learn, research, and develop Apple Vision Pro app prototypes to pre-emptively answer potential challenges and questions that may come up during actual product development
