Seal appears as a real seal in Mountain Dew's spectacularly silly Super Bowl ad.
Created by Goodby Silverstein & Partners and directed by Taika Waititi via Hungry Man, the campaign focuses on the brand's Baja Blast favour for the second year running.
“The cultural impact of the Super Bowl is undeniable and having Mountain Dew Baja Blast be a part of it for the second year in a row is incredibly exciting for us as a brand,” said Mark Kirkham, SVP of marketing for Pepsi and Sparking Brands.
The spot, entitled 'Kiss from a Lime', sees Becky G star alongside Mountain Dude, a mascot that the brand introduced last year. After cracking open a cold Baja Blast they are transported to an otherworldly tropical beach before being serenaded by Seal with a re-worked version of his hit 'Kiss from a a Rose'.
“I had a blast coming up with new lyrics and loved collaborating with their team to bring this campaign to life in such a fun and unexpected way,” said Seal.
Music supervision was handled by Walker, while VFX work was done by Untold Studios.
The ad will air during the second quarter of the game. It will be supported by two activations in New Orleans, the Super Bowl host city: Spot the Baja Blast Campervan and Escape to Baja Beach.
