Scoundrel Projects has announced it will be presenting an exhibition of visual artist Ian Strange's, new body of work titled 'Shadow' on March 2, 6-9pm at Level 1, 13-15 Levey St, Chippendale. Opening night March 2nd 6-9pm, then running daily till the 12th March from 10am-6pm.

Between 2015 and 2016 Strange created and documented five new art interventions directly onto red-brick Australian homes. Painting the homes entirely and working with large production and film crews this exhibition features five new large photographic works and an immersive film installation. The exhibition premiers March 2nd in a pop-up exhibition in Chippendale, Sydney.

Ian Strange - SHADOW online poster (1).jpgSays Strange of his new exhibition 'Shadow': "After making work looking at the American suburban dream, I wanted to create a body of work that reacted to the Australian suburbs as a whole. The suburbs have informed so much of our national identity but seems to undermine a deeper understanding of history and landscape in this country. This work is a reaction to that."

The exhibition coincides with the release of Home: The Art of Ian Strange a new 6-part ABC iview exclusive series tracking the past 8-years of Strange's career as he creates work directly on homes in New York, Alabama, Detroit, in Ohio's 'rust-belt' region, Fukushima's nuclear exclusion zone, post-earthquake Christchurch, New Zealand, Poland and back home in Australia - including full-scale installations of homes in Sydney's Cockatoo Island Turbine Hall, on the forecourt of the Art Gallery of South Australia and exhibitions in New York, the National Gallery of Victoria and the Canterbury Museum.

The series features interviews with filmmaker Morgan Spurlock, American artist Ron English, NGV Director Tony Ellwood, AGSA director Nick Mitzevich as well as Strange and his team he creates his large scale installations and exhibitions around the world.
