Launching just in time for Cinco de Mayo, Gran Centenario is inviting consumers to ditch all Gringo behaviours, from wearing the sombrero, to thinking Cinco de Mayo is Mexican Independence Day, to worst of all, dios mío - drinking Gringos tequila instead of the stuff Mexicans drink!
The 'Don't Be a Gringo' ad, directed by Latina SNL director Adriana Cruz of Tool, will star Mexican creators Shiadanni and Abelardo Campuzano. It will launch across social, online, and TV platforms, encouraging consumers to abandon their Gringo tendencies.
In-person Events: On May 3rd, Gran Centenario hosted 'Rápido Gringo Test' pop-up events in New York City and Chicago. Sure, you might order Mexican food and listen to Mexican music, but how well do you really know it? From teaching you to pronounce popular Spanish words to identifying key ingredients in beloved dishes, the tests helped you 'Ungringo Your Cinco' while you learn about Mexican culture.
Prizes and Virtual Experiences: Participants at the local pop-ups can win unforgettable prizes, including a trip to México, and enjoy Gran Centenario cocktails for just five cents or one Mexican peso. Additionally, consumers can take the online version of the 'Rápido Gringo Test' here to earn a $5 discount to try Gran Centenario.
