Samsung Romania took another step towards eco responsibility by launching a song featuring top-Romanian artist Emilian that shows people how to upcycle the box of the new NEO QLED TV into many useful items to free up the clutter and be more eco-aware at the same time.
The digital campaign puts a twist on a local insight surrounding the fear of losing the warranty if you do not have the item’s original box. But it’s just a myth. The warranty procedures are respected without it, so Samsung launched an anthem to free the boxes in any shape or form.
Inspired by the NEO QLED boxes, people can access samsung-ecopackage.com, pick their TV’s size and create unique items out of the cardboard box that prove to be helpful in their home but also friendly with the environment.
“Our aim with the Free the Box anthem and digital campaign was to create an entertaining way of motivating people to recycle their boxes into sleek eco-objects they could use around the house. Samsung’s new range of TVs already comes with eco-friendly boxes and tons of inspiring tutorials on how to reconvert the cardboard into useful objects, so our job was pretty easy,” says Roxana Niță, creative director, Cheil Romania.
"As global leader in technology, Samsung takes a stance in protecting the environment. For us, sustainability is a priority. Therefore, from manufacturing to design or packaging, our efforts are directed to develop energy efficient products and to use recyclable and ecological materials. Using recyclable packaging for the new 2021 TV range, came as a natural step. And the Free the Box campaign will help us locally to educate our public, in a fun way, about how to reuse their card boxes,” adds Ioana Marzac Sigarteu - corporate communication manager, Samsung Romania
Alongside the song, Samsung Romania launched a digital contest on Instagram in which people are challenged to discover the versatility of the items created out of the boxes, by decorating them with cool stickers and GIFs for a chance to win an actual NEO QLED TV.
