Today, independent COOs Sally Oldfield and Claire Corbett are officially announcing their new creative consultancy venture,
All Kinds of Magic.
All Kinds of Magic has a simple mission; to change the destiny of creative businesses in need of renewed relevance and long-term value. Working with owners and leaders in need of stability and growth in the creative field, they differentiate themselves from other marketing and creative consultancies with unrivalled experience, bringing a human touch and the toolkit to equip businesses with the magic, methods and mastery required to win.
Recognising that there is no cookie-cutter business advice or approach, All Kinds of Magic has a flexible offering which is tailored specifically to each business and its ecosystem. They extend this to a client base of start-ups, micro creative shops, network agencies, indies, brand consultancies, media businesses, design studios and production companies. Dependent on need and budget, Claire and Sally assess and advise in a way that allows clients to work with them individually or as a collective on short-term fixes or on long-term programmes of change.
There are a rare few individuals in the advertising and creative industries who have stared down periods of social and economic turmoil in business and managed to grow companies exponentially. Yet Sally and Claire are two such individuals and it is their expertise and passion for the commercial and strategic value of creative services that fuels their new offering.
Claire has 20 years experience leading creative businesses. She began her career in McConnell’s and Publicis Dublin. From there she joined the Board of Rothco, which saw the business grow from 40 to over 100 in six years, including sustained growth despite the 2009 recession and its aftershock. After leaving full time agency life in 2014, she went to New York to study film, furthering her appreciation of the nexus between creativity and commerciality. Drawn back by the ambition to reunite creative and media, Claire joined the board of Spark Foundry, and soon moved to the parent company Core, Ireland’s largest marketing communications group. As director of agency development, she oversaw a 12 month transformation programme to unify nine independent agencies with 300 people working across strategy, data, media, research, creative, technology, sponsorship, recruitment and training.
It was in 2017, when Sally took up the COO role at Rothco that the All Kinds of Magic co-founders met. At Rothco, Sally saw the agency through its pivotal sale to Accenture Interactive, and implemented a full business transformation programme which doubled its headcount, tripled its revenue and won the agency a Cannes Grand Prix. Yet like Claire, Sally’s experience stretches far wider than agency-life in Ireland. Prior to this Sally oversaw the North American operations of Winkreative as CSD, with principal clients including the likes of Starwood Marriott, Lexus and Deutsche Telekom. Her career has spanned a number of disciplines; originally cutting her teeth as a producer at Ridley Scott Associates, she moved into the early days of digital during the mid 00’s working as freelance lead for multiple design and build projects. Her multidisciplinary understanding of content, digital delivery, brand consulting, and communications drives her appreciation of a broad swath of the creative industry and she has worked with creative leaders at deciding moments in the development of their businesses, teams and clients.
Claire Corbett, independent chief operating officer and co-founder of All Kinds of Magic comments: “When Sally and I met in 2017, we very quickly discovered a common cause and a shared belief and passion for championing the strategic and commercial value of creativity. Launching All Kinds of Magic is a real creative love story. This industry has been very good to us, we’ve both benefited from being strategically and commercially focussed as agency owners and leaders. We are ardent defenders of creative value. And we are committed to supporting owners with the development of their businesses, so that change and future relevance aren’t realised too late.”
Sally Oldfield, independent chief operating officer and co-founder of All Kinds of Magic, comments: “Having worked in creative management and client-facing roles my entire career, I’d recognised that many creative business leaders, while often brilliant in their output, frequently struggled with their own business strategy and operations because they so often work in their businesses, leaving working on the business to chance. This really was where the seed for All Kinds of Magic was born. There was and is a growing need for expert support and perspective for these individuals to help them nurture their companies - which sometimes represent their life’s work - in the interests of client, creative, talent, and commercial excellence.”
All Kinds of Magic has offices in London and Dublin and works with clients around the world.
