On 14th January the multi-prime production company BIRTH presented the video Exile, the latest project by the artist Saint Levant, co-produced with 2HORLOGES, a major player in audio visual production in Algeria. A result of a solid partnership between the two companies, this project illustrates their shared commitment to supporting emerging talent. A truly immersive work of art, the music video boldly and sensitively brings to life the contrasting emotions of exile, sublimated by Lyna Zerrouki's unique artistic vision.
A visual odyssey by Lyna Zerrouki
With Exile, Lyna offers a visual exploration of exile, expressing both pain and resilience in the face of separation. Under her unique eye, far from the usual codes, the film takes on a dazzling aesthetic universe where the disciplines of cinematography, fashion and music merge. Each frame tells a story.
The director draws on her diverse multicultural and artistic references to create a world in which every visual and narrative detail is meticulously crafted to convey the universal emotions of exile. She celebrates the capacity of human beings to transcend their ordeals, to turn their pain into a poignant and moving expression.
Inspired by film icons whose colour language she reinvents (Kieslowski and the symbolic impact of colours in Trois couleurs:Bleu), Lyna offers a palpable contrast between the icy blue of alienation and sweet memories. A visual language that is enhanced by the use of
other media such as dance, fashion and film direction to create a world that is both poetic and surreal.
