Saddington Baynes, part of the ALONGSIDE/ collective, is proud to announce its rebirth as an exclusive healthcare content and experiences production studio. Led by Glen Taylor, founder of ALONGSIDE/ and former CEO of Taylor James, Saddington Baynes is poised to disrupt how healthcare businesses think about creating content, advertising, and marketing materials.
Glen is joined by Scott Pryor, senior executive producer, and Jen Allison, executive director of new business, in leading the reinvigorated Saddington Baynes. Both bring a wealth of experience in advertising and marketing, particularly when it comes to distilling complex stories and benefits into cross-media campaigns.
“Sometimes brands bounce back,” said Glen of the re-focussed studio. “I started my career at Saddington Baynes so it’s a privilege to be able to work with the brand name again and merge the worlds of science and art into a genuinely unique studio with a new approach to content creation.”
After being placed into administration in 2022, the Saddington Baynes brand and portfolio was acquired by Taylor under the ALONGSIDE/ umbrella. All healthcare related work will remain in-house, with automotive, FMCG, and luxury goods content production being handled by sister company, Hero Next Door.
“What we’re doing with ALONGSIDE/ is to really focus on creative specialisms,” continued Glen. “There’s a team at Saddington Baynes with a deep knowledge of healthcare brands and how best to communicate their messages, while Hero Next Door lives and breathes automotive, FMCG, and luxury products. It’s about placing the work with the studio that knows it best. For Saddington, that’s healthcare through and through. And it’s going to be a wild ride.”
By leaning into the capabilities of virtual production, Unreal Engine, and AI, coupled with new content channels including Web3 and the metaverse, the new look Saddington Baynes will provide its clients with unprecedented scope for brand marketing. New and emerging technologies will form the backbone of the studio’s approach, underpinned by the stewardship of a highly skilled team of producers and creative directors.
“We deliver mixed media solutions,” added Glen. “Often toolkits of assets that tell metaphorical stories that come through in healthcare creative. Medication and treatments do amazing things, but it’s often balanced against metaphors of the benefits.”
In resurrecting the legacy studio, Glen has brought in Jen Allison to head up business development and breathe new life into a much loved brand.
“Jen is a real win for us,” commented Glen. “She delivered great results at Taylor James, and we’ve got some incredible plans for growing not only Saddington Baynes, but the entire collective of studios under ALONGSIDE/.”
While launching an entirely new studio is one thing, re-imagining an existing brand presents a unique set of challenges and possibilities.
“The strategic decision to refine the business’ focus in healthcare presents some very interesting opportunities,” said Jen. “Sure, there’s competition out there, but no-one’s really embracing new technologies and finding ways to balance out the human factor. The work we do has a serious slant to it, but how we do that work needs to be fun, it needs to be rewarding. Our approach is science meets art, and art is inherently human.”
With a background as a photographic agent, and later spending over 11 years at Taylor James, Jen’s experience will be fundamental to the success of the reborn Saddington Baynes.
“Glen and I will be going on the road,” added Jen. “We’ll be bringing a true sense of care and enjoyment to rebuilding Saddington Baynes into a business that will stand the test of time, rolling with new technologies and embracing – championing – a new way of doing things.”
While Jen will be charged with bringing new business into Saddington Baynes, Scott will set the tone for finding client solutions, leading a new team to deliver projects that cut through a busy landscape and transcend single use media.
“We're beginning an amazing journey," Scott commented. "Working again with Glen and Jen to build Saddington into something special will be a pleasure. We've got the experience, tools, and talent to shift perceptions within our industry that will shake up the healthcare sector."
“Saddington Baynes has been brought back from the brink with an experienced, energised team behind it,” added Glen. “It’s going to be a great year putting the brand back on the map.”
