Los Angeles-based Recommended Media director Henry Hobson teams up with Duncan/Channon to launch the new :30 “Our Other Rock Stars” for Hard Rock Café. The spot features a Hard Rock Café chef displaying his passion and showmanship for cooking, as well as his gritty rock star cool.
Says director Henry Hobson, “It was about channeling the British rock star buried deep inside me. Alongside the inner Heston Blumenthal, or Marco Pierre White. Developing 'Our Other Rock Stars' was a lot of fun, bottling the energy and poise that a performer has to frame it in a few short seconds of screen time, capturing the swagger and vibe of the hero. It was the clues that I was looking for, is it the car, the luggage tag, the clothes, the walk, or is it the entrance or backstage hallway? Each element brought a touch of rock to really emphasize the reveal of his true identity as a rock and roll chef.”

“Our Other Rock Stars” opens with a sleek black town car traveling through a tunnel. The main character emerges: leather jacket, skull ring, and black bag in tow. He walks down a slick alleyway, presumably on his way to a gig. After entering through the back door of the building, he begins strolling through the bustling halls. The door opens to his destination and we can hear the roar of a crowd. Our rock star throws off his jacket in preparation… to cook.
He calmly buttons up his chef smock and begins his work. We see and hear the juicy tomatoes, the crunch of lettuce, and the sizzle of the grill. As he presents his creation, a juicy burger, piled high with the works, we cut to our chef in the background, accompanied by the tagline “Meet Our Other Rock Stars.”
