Helga Sásdi named new chairperson of WeAreOpen's board of directors

WeAreOpen, Hungary’s leading DEI organisation, has recently announced the appointment of two new leaders. Helga Sásdi, the CEO of Publicis Groupe Hungary and co-head of Publicis Le Pont, is the new chairperson of WeAreOpen’s board of directors; Nóra Várady – most recently from CEU -  is named the CEO of WeAreOpen.

Helga Sasdi will hold the position of chairperson of WeAreOpen’s board of directors in addition to her current roles with Publicis Groupe Hungary and Publicis Le Pont. Socialised in an inclusive culture in both her private and professional life, Helga’s commitment is both value-based and business-based. As the leader of the country's largest creative and media market player, she believes that diversity and inclusion are the basic conditions for outstanding business operations. This belief is well reflected in the fact that a total 31 nationalities work at Publicis Groupe Hungary. Helga is the unique executive in Hungary who brings solid experience of successfully collaborating with people from different cultural backgrounds in an exclusive manner.

Nóra Várady transferred from CEU InnovationsLab, one of the most prominent startup accelerators in the Central and Eastern European region, and manages the organization as CEO. She believes that WeAreOpen’s thought leadership can have a serious social impact locally. Real change begins at the level of micro-communities, but the creation of the foundations of openness within WeAreOpen’s business community can ignite positive change in the wider society.

Márton Beck, communication strategist and founding member of MindMiners Collective joins WeAreOpen as a strategic adviser.

Helga Sásdi, comments: "In today's world, the basic expectation of workplaces is that employees are judged based on their performance regardless of skin color, religion, gender identity or sexual orientation - that is, to operate in an open manner. With the arrival of Helga, Nóra, and Marci, I think that the relationship between WeAreOpen and the domestic corporate sector will rise to a new level," said Péter Árvai, founder of WeAreOpen and honorary chairman of the board of directors.

“I believe that being open and accepting of each other allows us to work together effectively, and constantly evolve by learning about new values and cultures. At Publicis Groupe Hungary and Publicis Le Pont, we have been building an environment where being open is a natural state of being and makes us good at what we do. We want to show the world how beneficial it is to work in a culture like ours – and WeAreOpen is the best platform to spread the word! I have big hopes for the organization: besides revolutionizing the Hungarian business ecosystem, I would like to help bring about this positive change and further drive this in the neighboring countries.”

Openness is key to boost employer branding efforts

The primary goal of the new leaders is to provide guidance to the corporate sector in a radically transforming world on how openness can be made the basis of employer branding and daily operations - all this through workshops, campaigns, and activities based on best practices organized by WeAreOpen. “Belonging to WeAreOpen’s community is a value and a stance in itself. Ee created the organization to demonstrate with actions and concrete action plans that being open is the right thing to do," says Miklós Bán, CEO of espell and member of WeAreOpen’s board of directors.

Global challenges, local solutions

In order to ensure that the services and programs offered by the organisation are tailored to Hungarian needs as much as possible, WeAreOpen previously examined global challenges on a local level: the 2021 joint research with Gemius revealed that in Hungary LGBTQ and Roma employees feel the least safe in the workplace.

Based on the results of the research, WeAreOpen will launch Hungary's first "Corporate Openness Index" in the near future. The purpose of the survey is to provide a comprehensive understanding of the state of diversity and inclusion on the Hungarian market. For this, the organization is asking for help by filling out the following questionnaire: LINK
