Collaboration aims too bolster business growth and a more diverse offering for client

Post Production houses Cherry Cherry and Polka Post have launched a new Joint Venture from which grading will be supplied under the identity 'POP' to create a comprehensive post house in London’s Fitzrovia.

Launching early June 2018, the two teams intend to add to their commercial offering with Polka bringing a full Baselight grading suite and editing capabilities.

James and Kenny from Polka are experienced colourists with a history in TV and Broadcast as well as Advertising.

Cherry Cherry MD Ian Harland tells us “I’ve known Kenny for over 20 years so this collaboration is as natural a fit as they come.   We’re all very excited at the prospect of having these talented guys here and bringing a fully equipped Baselight in-house so we can offer our clients a full complement of all aspects for any job they may need.”

Creative Director Hugo Saunders echoes Ian’s excitement: “I’ve loved working with these guys in the past and to have them now be in-house completes our offering from edit to delivery in a seamless workflow, we can’t wait to get started.”

Joining the team at Cherry in their Goodge Place home, James and Kenny are looking forward to having a fully equipped space for their clients in unique and comfortable surroundings.

Kenny Gibbworked at MPC for 10 years before becoming Lead Colourist at Oktober post in New Zealand.  Upon his return he set up as a freelancer and has vast experience in both commercials and broadcast, having worked with many high profile brands. Recent projects include Breitling, Estee Lauder, Google, Audi and Amazon’s ‘The Grand Tour’.

James Gilmor estarted his career as an edit assistant and having worked alongside Head of Post, he garnered a wealth of knowledge in live broadcast set-up at Channel 4.  Learning his craft in editing and later in commercial grading, idents and online content, James became Lead Editor and Colourist at Addiction Worldwide.  He went on to set up business as a small post facility to create a quality alternative to larger companies, focusing on a flexible, efficient service.

A major factor in all this is the addition of the BaseLight One system.

Having the best tools and colour science available, it's a system used by the most respected facilities in the world, giving the best results much quicker than other options.

BaseLight works very well alongside Nuke and Flame, which Cherry Cherry are experts in, so the match really is ideal.

Both Kenny and James acknowledge the need for a bespoke finishing option, and have been seeking a well-respected post house to benefit from Baselight grading and complete their set-up.  Kenny says, 'Cherry Cherry fitted the bill perfectly, and by joining forces, it will enable a full offering of grading, editing, 3D and high-end finishing in one building using a highly experienced team.'  James adds, 'Creating this Joint Venture with Cherry Cherry allows both to expand and keeps us all agile, whilst maintaining an intimate service for our clients.'
