Jay Rock, the ascendant rapper signed to Top Dawg Entertainment recently released his latest video for the track 'For What It’s Worth' off his critical and commercial powerhouse album Redemption.
TDE President Dave Free tapped Matilda Finn and her production company Pomp&Clout for the video.
After an avant-garde intro, the striking visual features Jay Rock walking down the street in his home town of Watts, CA as various scenes appear and disappear on the street in a hallucinatory fashion. As the video progresses, Finn introduces and progressively foregrounds a motif of hornets. Most notable is the moment where a hornet lands on the camera lens and shakes off its pollen which is then snorted by a woman wearing a diamond bikini. Pomp&Clout collaborated with Method Studios to achieve the stunning photo-real CG hornets.
