Things have been pretty grim and serious in the advertising industry of late. That’s why creative agency Neil A Dawson & Company and e-cargo bike service Pedal Me have launched a free-to-enter competition that they hope will give the ad industry the chance for a bit of free-wheeling fun.
“We wanted to create an opportunity to have fun and do so with a fast turnaround. The opportunity for Creatives to have an advertisement running before the end of the year,” says the agency's founder and ECD Neil. “The year has been a bit of a strain, it would be good to end on a high.”
So, how do you enter? Come up with an idea – for a real client – that makes the most of this modern, clean and quirky media space.
1. Create a bold, relevant idea for one of your clients, to feature on the side of the Pedal Me fleet.
2. Get client sign off.
The competition is open to people working across the ad industry – at agencies, in-house at brands, at production companies or freelance but work needs to be signed off to run on behalf of a client. Winning work will be featured for free on the side Pedal Me’s e-cargo bikes for the whole of December and runners up will win 50% off the cost of a month of advertising. Shortlisted work will be featured on Little Black Book.
Neil A Dawson & Company have been working with Pedal Me since winning the account in September and Neil says the partnership has been an eye-opening experience. The passenger and cargo transport service uses a fleet of 50 e-bikes. Launched in April 2017, they cover a nine mile radius of central London. In a six week partnership with Lambeth Council they delivered over 10,000 care packages across the borough during lockdown – and have even been used by customers to move house.
“Pedal Me bikes are incredibly distinctive and they cover hundreds of miles every month. This makes them a great vehicle to carry advertising messages. There is no media site like them. Therefore creatives have the opportunity to create bespoke advertising on this medium. We thought this could be a win-win for Pedal Me and the creative community,” says Neil.
“We are hoping to see really smart and unexpected uses for the space. People going beyond the obvious.”
A jury of agency and brand clients will be announced shortly. The competition is also supported by tag.
Remember it’s a fast moving competition – entries open on October 15th and close on Friday November 13th (UPDATE: The deadline has been extended to December 4th). Winners will be announced the week of November 16th. So what are you waiting for – get on your bikes!
