Optimus today announced that former Beast Editorial Head of Production Darby Walker has joined the leading post and production house as its new senior producer in Santa Monica, Calif. Working closely with Optimus EP/Managing Director Therese Hunsberger, Walker will help drive growth while maintaining Optimus’ unique combination of world-class client service and creative support for its artists.
“Darby is a highly respected and admired talent in the L.A. advertising community,” said Hunsberger. “She has a ton of experience in our post and production world, all in L.A. where she was born and raised, and I can't wait to team up with her.”
Most recently, Walker was head of production in the Los Angeles offices of Beast Editorial. There, she worked on high profile campaigns for Hewlett Packard, North Face, Carl's Jr., and HTC. Before Beast, she freelanced with MTI Film, helping to establish the facility as a viable post alternative in Hollywood. Prior to that, she was executive producer at New Hat, a telecine and color facility. Her first foray into producing was at RIOT Santa Monica, where she increased the company’s prestige as a premiere facility employing some of the top colorists in the city. Walker began her career as a production assistant at Propaganda Films. Her personal attention to bidding, scheduling, and actualizing jobs endears her to both clients and editors alike, making her an indispensible part of the post-production team.
“I am so excited to join Optimus, which has built itself on client service and providing a one-stop shop for all production and post needs,” said Walker. “As a big company that has experienced strong growth, Optimus has managed to maintain its small company culture, maintaining a wonderful roster and repeat business that validate its commitment to its talent and clients.”
Optimus President Tom Duff adds, "Darby embodies the personality and charm that Optimus is known for, and will be a great fit for our team and clients. We’re looking forward to seeing Darby and Therese take Optimus Santa Monica to new heights.”
