Last week saw the London premiere of Odelay Films’ first feature ‘The Road of Excess’.
Braving the elements, the Odelay team were delighted to see so many industry folk join them at the iconic Prince Charles cinema in Leicester square.
As a first film this was an ambitious project and one that struck a chord with all involved.
The film follows the journey of ex star of Dirty Sanchez, Mat Pritchard, from the peaks of MTV stardom to the depth of mental despair. Aiming to conquer his demons, Mat embarks on an arduous rowing expedition across the Atlantic. The film is a poignant tale of resilience, redemption and the unyielding pursuit of inner peace.
It’s fair to say that everyone was moved by the film and to expand on its poignancy the screening was followed by an enlightening Q&A session. Hosting the insightful discussion was Kerrang presenter Matt Stocks, who was joined by Mat Pritchard, the film’s director Jamie Jones, along with the producers Ed Arthur and Ben Falk of Odelay Films.
The film has already been awarded as best documentary at the Manchester Film Festival and has been showcased at Idylwild and Mountain film festival in Telluride in the USA.
Following the London premiere the film will now be entered into the international film festival circuit, and the process of speaking to sales agents and broadcasters will commence.
