Ubik have just finished a luscious 30″ commercial for Middle Eastern evaporated milk brand ‘Luna’. Working with London agency Anthem, Ubik now add complex fluid simulation to their extensive animation repertoire. Creative Team Mark Ringer and Andrew Charles tasked Ubik to create the story of a perfectfamily moment through the medium of milk and tea.
This was a delicate and challenging concept to achieve, and was painstakingly created at Not To Scale London using a complex pipeline of software. An expert team of Softimage and Houdini artists developed bespokeanimation and simulation techniques to bring the Perfect Moment to life.
Ubik also cast and directed the expertly integrated live action family and pack at a London location with full live action team.
Ubik said “This was one of the more challenging projects we have embarked on - the difficulty came with balancing a warm and subtle tone, with the incredibly technical workings under the bonnet. Throughout the process we were conscious of not allowing the technique to take over from the human narrative of the film. Added to this were various cultural sensitivities which had to be taken into account. The worthwhile projects are the ones that push you – with Perfect Moment we forged new relationships, learned new film-making techniques and experienced new cultures.
We were fortunate to work with a world-class team of artists, and enjoyed the full support and trust of the creative team at Anthem.”
