Soccer or football? Moxie Pictures director Martin Granger has teamed up with The Brooklyn Brothers and actor Jason Sudeikis to bring the U.K.’s ‘other football’ Stateside.
The campaign has been created to announce that the NBC family of networks will be broadcasting the 2013-2014 Premier League in the US of A. The centrepiece of the campaign is fictional American football coach Ted Lasso (Sudeikis) who has travelled to the UK to try his hand coaching a Premier League soccer team in American football style. In all, the campaign is comprised of five minute web film “An American Coach In London,” the :60 “Meet Coach Ted Lasso” and :30 “Coach Ted Lasso There’s a Misunderstanding”.
.
Granger chronicled Ted Lasso’s attempts to manage an actual Tottenham Hotspur training session; the team’s first practice of the season. We also see his clueless – and comical – press conferences, phone calls and locker room team talks.
The English Premier League is one of the most popular football leagues in the world and NBC’s comprehensive Premier League coverage will begin August 17th. They are the first major American network to bring the league’s entire season to U.S. audiences.
