Production company Native Pictures and New York-based photographic representative Art Department have joined together in an alignment that breaks the traditional division between commercial and photographic production and talent.
This alignment will see the migration and development of top photographic talent into live-action direction, as well as translating Native’s top-notch commercial production value to photo shoots on the West Coast. The first Native signing was fashion-forward photographer Coliena Rentmeester, who seamlessly jumped into live-action with spots for J. Crew, Target, Elizabeth Arden, and
OpenSky.com.
Rentmeester was the initial force bringing Native Pictures founder Tomer DeVito, and Art Department founder Jordan Shipenberg together.
DeVito and Shipenberg hit it off immediately, and quickly recognized both a shared aesthetic as well as a shared dedication to high-quality, devil-in-the-detail production value. It didn’t take long to devise the idea of forming a unique alignment between their new companies.
“We clicked right away on so many levels: work ethic, aesthetic, cultural taste, and came up with this new model together,” says Devito.
Shipenberg reiterated the sentiment. “I couldn’t be happier about the collaboration with Native. We’re excited to see what this endeavor will offer our talent and clients on both coasts.”
Native is an innovative and multi-faceted company producing work across genres in commercial production, music videos, branded content, and photography. Fall 2012 saw Native creating their Special Projects division, dedicated to developing content of both traditional and new media formats including short films and documentaries. Native’s recent company developments includes a beautiful new industrial office space in Hollywood, an influx of new directorial and production talent, and an identity rebranding.
