Former MRM, Saatchi and George P. Johnson alum is the latest in a series of creative hires that has helped the social agency more than triple in size

Social media agency Movement Strategy announces the addition of Ly Nguyen as SVP, executive creative director – capping off a period of tremendous growth that has seen the agency rapidly add ten creatives over two months and more than triple its headcount in three years. Nguyen will lead an award-winning team as social media’s impact and influence expands, transforming it into an even larger part of the marketing landscape and cultural conversation.

Nguyen brings a deep well of experience in creative leadership, having worked with some of the industry’s most recognizable agencies and brands. As Creative Director at experiential agency George P. Johnson, she worked with automotive brands like Tesla and Kia, as well as tech companies like Google and Sage. Later, at Saatchi & Saatchi, she led the digital content teams for Toyota and rebranding efforts for the LA Chargers. Most recently, she served as VP, group creative director at MRM, collaborating with Cisco and Grubhub. Now at Movement, she will apply her skills toward helping the team reach even greater heights as the agency continues to evolve its considerable capabilities.

“Ly is an amazing mentor and manager for creative talent,” says Movement Strategy CEO Jason Mitchell. “At our core we value creativity – the ideas and the people behind those ideas – so we wanted to make sure to bring in someone with a proven track record of creating an amazing atmosphere for creative talent to grow and flourish. But more than that, she has a tremendous amount of experience not just in social, but leading global campaigns for large brands and as we continue to grow as an agency – offering everything from consumer research and brand planning to multi-channel activations and large scale production. Ly’s ability to oversee this type of work is going to be highly beneficial.”

Nguyen agrees, adding that Movement’s independence makes it an attractive proposition for new talent and clients looking to face modern business challenges: “Client demands have shifted to a more flexible worldview and consumers demand more authenticity from the brands they support,” she explains. “Independent agencies like Movement have the edge in moving nimbly, thriving at the intersection of the real and digital worlds while social media expertise presents huge opportunities for growth and innovation. I can’t wait to push the boundaries of multi-platform social and digital campaigns, elevate immersive and personalized content, and create deep connections with communities that spark conversations.”

Among Movement Strategy’s ten additional new hires, standouts include former VMLY&R and Ayzenberg creative director Terry Lee as well as senior art directors Amanda Penley and Blake Fortin. Each has a wealth of experience in sectors ranging from Microsoft Xbox to McDonalds to the NFL.

For Movement Strategy, its growth is a reflection of clients’ greater recognition of the possibilities for brands on social media. “Not only are we working with more companies, the type of companies we are working with has broadened,” states Mitchell. “As we navigate this growth, we will continue to deliver amazing work for our clients and build exceptional teams, combining home grown talent with amazing creatives from other agencies who are looking to join a thriving, progressive company. This is one of the most exciting, in-demand sectors within advertising, and with new leaders like Ly joining our agency, we know the best is yet to come.”
