BSUR, the Amsterdam-based creative agency, today launches the final episode of MINI’s ‘All The Wrong Places’ campaign with a touch of magic. Over the past six months the five-part series has reached across the social media spectrum, including: Facebook, Twitter and YouTube.
The final episode in this unwise adventure series takes the new MINI Roadster, VICE and BSUR to see a spookier side of exotic Jamaica. Along with Co-Pilot, Natalia, a young Colombian media researcher living in Amsterdam, host Krishna Andavolu’s mission was to investigate the mystical Jamaican folk magic practices of Obeah. This ancient Afro-Caribbean religion is one of the island's best-kept secrets. And for good reason – Mobs have killed black magic Obeah practitioners for cheating them, so it’s no surprise that people are very secretive about this dark art.
The adventure begins in a occult store in the notoriously violent Tivoli Gardens. An Aladdin’s cave of oils and amulets against evils, incenses and love potions - all the materials needed to practice the bizarre rituals of this religion. After getting supplies and a tip on a fabled white-magic Obeah man called Joseph, the team plunges into the truth and the steamy interior of the island.
Natalia says: “To be in Jamaica with both MINI and VICE was fantastic. It was dusty mountain roads and beautiful beaches leading to hidden characters. It was riding a sweet car all day and then drinking Bob Marley cocktails. It was getting a good luck spell, watching a healing ritual being performed and listen to stories about demons. Thanks to ‘All The Wrong Places’ adventure, I got to take a see at a very complex side of Jamaica that I know I wouldn’t have seen any other way."
Joseph seems like the real deal. He’s also a showman and performs many bizarre Obeah ceremonies for Natalia and Krishna, including levitation.
After rubbing olive oil on Krishna’s face, Joseph looks into his crystal ball and has a vision of a woman dressed in a white headscarf with a demon behind her, in wait for Natalia and Krishna.
All The Wrong Places’ is an integrated part of the entire roll out of ‘Another Day. Another Adventure’ campaign across all media platforms, including TV, print, social media, online and OOH.
