Pip at the post! Australia Post's newest mascot unveiled with Keep Left

Australia Post has today announced the launch of its national mascot, Pip the Koala. Pip will help drive environmental awareness as part of Australia Post’s ongoing commitment to delivering a better tomorrow.

Iconic to Australia, the koala was selected as the perfect fit for the Australia Post brand. Pip has been created to promote the important message that, together, we can make a difference when it comes to taking care of the environment.

To help achieve this, Australia Post has proudly entered into a three-year Strategic Partnership with the World Wide Fund for Nature Australia (WWF-Australia). The partnership is aligned to Australia Post’s 2025 Sustainability Roadmap and supports an ongoing commitment to a more sustainable future. By coming together, the two organisations will raise critical awareness of the importance of restoring and protecting koala habitats.

Catriona Noble, Australia Post executive general manager, retail, brand & marketing said Australia Post has a responsibility and opportunity to create a more sustainable future for all Australians.

“Our organisation touches more communities than any other business in the country and we must do our part to promote environmental awareness.

“Devastatingly, recent extreme weather events including fires and floods have caused significant habitat destruction, exacerbating the crisis faced by the koala, a quintessential native species.

“Through our work with WWF-Australia and our new mascot Pip, we are committed to engaging and educating Australians about the importance of protecting koalas from the threat of extinction,” Catriona said.

Tanya Pritchard, WWF-Australia's landscape restoration project manager, said: “There are some key recovery actions needed to save the koala on the east coast of Australia, but further funding is required to ensure the koala can thrive, and not just survive.

“We are pleased to be partnering with Australia Post to help turn this tragedy around and raise much-needed awareness and funds to protect koalas and their forest homes,” Tanya said.

As part of the launch of Pip, Australia Post has created a Pip the Koala plush toy, each made from 10 recycled plastic bottles. For every Pip the Koala plush toy sold, $2 will be donated to WWF-Australia to help protect and restore koala habitats. Pip the Koala plush toys are now available online and at participating Post Offices.
