Cut+Run editor Akiko Iwakawa reunited with director Jun Diaz to collaborate on the new Normal brand launch film “Ear Tailor” via agency Partners & Spade.
The surreal & original film presents the makings of equally original 3D printed headphones, custom made exactly for each user’s ears by Normal – even your right one will differ from your left. In the case of the film, the 3D printer is brought to life as The Tailor who dexterously and exquisitely makes the earphones duct taped to a wall in a secret lab.
"Normal was definitely one of the wildest projects that I've seen in recent years, in the most positive way,” says Akiko. “I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw the dailies...”
Akiko Iwakawa and Jun Diaz collaborated last year on the CFDA fashion award films, which introduced categories and the honored designers with compelling narrative vignettes. The films were featured at the annual awards gala and online.
