In 2021, Arcade Film Factory introduced their inaugural apprenticeship program which received over 200 reels and applications. After the founding directors combed through hundreds of applications, they only accepted four final apprentices or less than 3% of applications.
One of the four apprentices, now an in-house director, was Andrei Julitan. Also known as Super Bayani in social media, Andrei has amassed over 12,500,000+ video views and 140,000+ followers from his personal comedy work online after going viral multiple times.
Since joining Arcade, he has been taken under the wing of Marius Talampas, award-winning director behind viral commercials for Orocan, RC Cola, Danes Cheese, and many more.
Andrei> In 2020, when I was still in school, I would make short films about pop culture as ‘Super Bayani’ that to my surprise Filipino memers loved. After my third video, a random Marius Talampas messaged me on Facebook and told me that he liked my work and wanted to connect with me. At first, I thought it was a scam until I stalked him and discovered he’s a well-known director who directed one of the films I loved, 'Ang Pangarap Kong Holdap.'
After realising who he was (I’m sorry I thought you were a scammer Direk Marius), of course, I said yes to working with him. I would join him in his shoots and learn from him. A few months after, they launched the Arcade apprenticeship program to which I applied. I was lucky to be one of the only four apprentices they accepted that year!
Andrei>The material that helped me break through the industry was a short online film about the long-running show ‘Ang Probinsyano.’ I believed from the beginning that it was going to go viral because I knew how much the internet and meme culture loved the famous TV show and its star Coco Martin. So far, my film ‘Ang Probinsyano animation’ has over three million views and 65,000 shares across YouTube and Facebook. It was after I launched this film that Direk Marius Talampas messaged me.
Andrei’s apprenticeship mentor Marius Talampas added: “No jokes aside but when I saw Andrei’s short animations online, I felt that they were the funniest content on the internet. So, I messaged him right away and asked if he wanted to enter the advertising industry. Lucky for us, he said yes. Now, I’m so excited for him to apply his humour to the commercials he’ll be directing with us at Arcade.”
Andrei> I was able to work with GIGIL on two projects: direct their Christmas campaign for Danes Queso De Bola and co-write with Marius Talampas the viral Netflix All Of Us Are Dead ‘Knowledge Is Weapon’ Film. Aside from that, I also helped direct a voter awareness film with Piolo Pascual and Pepe Herrera during the 2022 Philippine Elections.
Danes Queso De Bola 'Upcycled' (Director)
Netflix All of Us Are Dead 'Knowledge Is Weapon' (Co-writer)
'The One' with Piolo Pascual and Pepe Herrera (Director)
Other spec work (Director)
Andrei> I really want to expand my genre and try different things. What’s on my list are visually appealing content and lifestyle works. I want anyone who’d see my 2027 reel to say “he’s such a professional and has achieved so many things already.”
Ready for Some Knockout Comedy
“I’m very excited to see clients discover the potential of Andrei.” Marius Talampas says, “he’s done viral comedic work as early as when he was a college student. I can just imagine the scale of what he can do for our clients given the support system and capabilities we’ve provided him here in Arcade Film Factory.”
The Arcade Film Factory has been around since 2019.
