We wanted to learn more – and asked him what he loves about his job, to explain positive provocation and share his hopes for the future of the ad industry:
Alex> I love my job for several reasons. I love the people I work with. I love the banter and I love the energy. I've been here for quite a long time. So, you build up these great relationships. I love it as well, because every day is slightly different.
There are lots of common themes to my days, as you would expect, working with clients. But there's always something new and exciting and sometimes challenging to have to deal with or must address. And, we operate in an industry that's changing every day, and I love that.
Alex> Positive Provocation is core to the Wavemaker proposition and what we stand for and what we offer our clients. At its core, it is simply about just asking smart questions, asking why? Why not? Have you thought about this?
So, it is provoking all of us to think about things differently, to not settle for what we've done in the past. And we're asking this in pursuit of a different and ultimately a better way to move forward. I'd add as well that the provocation is... The questioning is based on knowledge and intelligence.
Alex> It’s that we can continue to support our clients, of course. That we can continue to chart a path for a more sustainable ecosystem in all sorts of ways, more sustainable, more diverse, more inclusive. Wavemaker, GroupM and WPP are already heavily invested in.
I'm also hopeful that we can use our talent because there's an awful lot of great creative skill in our industry that we can use for good causes, however that's defined. And that would mean something different to everyone, of course. But to our power and what we have at our disposal to change the world for the better.
