It’s one of the most prestigious awards a director can win and this year the Directors Guild of America honoured Martin de Thurah for his achievements in commercials.
The director who is represented by Academy Films, Epoch Films and Bacon was given the Outstanding Directorial Achievements in Commercials award for his work on the Hennessy VS commercial, The Man Who Couldn’t Slow Down, from Droga5 and the Human Race spot for Acura MDX 2014.
De Thurah was in good company at the 66th Annual DGA Awards Dinner at the Hyatt Regency Century Plaza in Los Angeles. Alfonso Cuarón won the DGA’s Award for Outstanding Directorial Achievement in Feature Film for Gravity, while Breaking Bad’s Vince Gilligan took the award in the Dramatic Series category for Felina, the final episode of the Albequerque-set meth saga and Stephen Soderbergh was awarded in the TV Movie and Mini-series category for his blingy Liberace biopic Behind the Candelabra.
