Motion design and animation specialists Mainframe have recently completed the design, animation and post production for the BBC Wimbledon 2012 adverts, one of the most high profile projects in the BBC sporting calendar.
Having won the competitive pitch, Mainframe worked closely with Joe Lee (Creative Head Redbee Media) on developing a look that would maintain it's style and integrity when moving. The spot not only had to look good but had to convey key messages about the payers, and getting this info across was a key point for the BBC client.
The process began with the complex task of rotoscoping each Phantom slow motion shot, down to the individual racquet strings. Each player was painstakingly typeset and hand animated with an extremely high level of detail. The project was composited in Nuke and graded in house at Mainframe on Resolve.
