Sophie Gold has found a new home, and it fits like a glove. The veteran sales and marketing leader, whose career in both London and New York has consistently seen her working with creative companies on the cutting edge of their respective fields, has joined the recently-launched fashion and beauty production company LOOKER at Director of Business Development.
Based in the company’s New York office, Gold will be responsible for building the LOOKER sales force, overseeing its move into new markets and fostering deeper relationships with agencies and brands.
Gold has also been named to the same position at two of LOOKER’s sister companies: The Station, which offers “all in” post production including creative editorial, visual effects and finishing, and The Writers Room, a collection of veteran comedy performers and writers available to collaborate with agencies and brands on advertising and entertainment projects.
LOOKER was launched by the noted fashion and beauty director Eden Tyler in June of
this year. The company has set out to
create a new paradigm for creating content for fashion, beauty and lifestyle
brands, as well as for celebrity-driven campaigns. It opens with a directorial
roster that includes the veteran Fashion & Beauty Directors Jonathan
Lennard and Charlie Wan, as well as the newcomers Andrew Kuykendall and Sean
Hagwell.
“We’re thrilled to have someone with Sophie’s eclectic background, discerning tastes and industry insight, experience and contacts leading the next phase of our growth,” says LOOKER Co-Founder Drew Stein, who’s also Partner and EP at The Station and The Writers Room.
Gold’s career has encompassed everything from line producing to sales in areas as diverse as advertising production and post, experiential marketing and event marketing. She’s often worked with start-up companies or been tasked with introducing established players to new markets, which she’s done both in Europe and in the US.
She joins LOOKER and The Station from the New
York office of Engage & Experience, where she was Executive Producer. Prior
to that she was with Quintessentially TV (QTV), an internationally-based
production and production service shop, where she was Managing Director/US, tasked
with launching the company and its roster of European directorial talents in
the States.
A thought leader on a range of topics related to marketing, media, personal development and career advancement, Gold has been contributing for several years to the Huffington Post. You can check out her entries here.
Gold says she’s excited about the potential that LOOKER presents agencies and brands, as the global fashion and beauty advertising scene is exploding with new products and new forms of storytelling. “What Eden Tyler is doing with LOOKER is so timely and relevant to the current climate,” she says. “Fashion and beauty brands have such varied needs today, and agencies are looking to partner with specialists who can deliver on their briefs in a highly focused way.”
With The Station and The Writers Room, Gold sees an opportunity to provide clients in a broad range of product categories with access to turnkey solutions that can go from concept to completion. The Station, she points out, offers a full range of integrated production and post production capabilities. “And the talents available via The Writers Room are a dream to work with,” she adds. “They’re funny, they’re current and they’re ready to partner with creatives and brands to tap into this wild world of internet comedy.”
