Knucklehead USA Signs Maceo Frost

Knucklehead LA has added Maceo Frost (who we once profiled as a New Talent here) to its roster, completing the director's transatlantic representation. 

Named after James Brown’s famous saxophone player and raised by a street-dance legend father and skateboard-rebel mother, Frost grew up with underground culture practically embedded in his DNA. As a pianist and drummer himself, Frost believes that rhythm is the secret to everything and it’s an evident theme throughout his body of work - his realist approach to filmmaking consistently bends gorgeous imagery into harmonic visual poems.

His gift for directing came at a young age. By the time he was 19 he landed a Swedish Grammy nod for Best Music Video of the Year… on a school project.

Since then, he’s gone on to create an impressive repertoire of highly praised films. Including his debut feature Too Beautiful: Our Right to Fight, about Cuban boxer Namibia Rodriguez, premiered at the Sheffield International Documentary Festival in 2018. Then came Raised By Krump, a soulful doc film paying homage to the origin and culture of the Krump dance movement.

The film went on to garner several accolades including a nod for the Grand Jury Award at the SXSW Film Festival. His success carries over into the commercial world as well, having idealised hugely successful campaigns for the likes of BMW, adidas, Nokia, Asics, IKEA and most recently a short doc piece for Yamaha’s Making Waves campaign.
