Knucklehead LA Signs Academy Award Nominated Documentarian Hubert Davis

Knucklehead has announced the signing of documentary filmmaker Hubert Davis to the production company’s US roster. 

Hubert has built a strong reputation for himself in the doc scene with an impressive launch story to match – his 2005 directorial debut “Hardwood” earning him both Academy Award and Emmy nominations out the gates. The film explored the relationship between Hubert and his Harlem Globetrotter father, Mel Davis.

Once “Hardwood” earned him a spot on the map, Hubert’s next project “Aruba” had its world premiere at the Sundance Film Festival and won the Grand Jury Prize at Palm Springs Film Festival. 

Hubert’s most recent feature documentary “Giants of Africa”, which followed Toronto Raptors GM Masai Ujiri, made its world premiere at the 2016 Toronto International Film Festival. 

His gorgeous and insightful eye for human storytelling paired with his striking visual language has translated nicely into to the commercial world, where he’s directed hugely successful campaigns and short form docs with clients such as Audi, Chevrolet, Coca-Cola, Ford, Gatorade, Nike and Pfizer.

Hubert has consistently directed Cannes Lions-winning work for Volkswagen’s “Once More”, Special Olympics’ “Canada Sport”. His most recent win was for HP's “Rivolta” which followed notorious hacker Michael “Mafiaboy” Calce, and was the recipient of a Cannes Film Lion in 2017.
