The juggle is hard.
Co-Founder of King Lear, Sarah Giles, recalls the constant sense of guilt and worry on missing some important stages of development that she felt as a new working parent.
It’s a huge challenge – wanting to get back on track and prove yourself as a respectable career driven professional, but also wanting to be there for your child when they take their first steps, when they get sick, or have a special event to attend. There’s a sacrifice that feels inevitable and it’s very hard to reconcile.
I was grateful that my partner could take on a lot of the childcare, and that my baby was well looked after and loved, but it didn’t stop that guilt when I missed a bedtime story, a class, a farm visit, or just a routine doctor visit when I couldn’t give him a cuddle after his jabs.
So naturally, now that King Lear is established, we’re excited to be able to open our space for events with our clients, friends and their families.
The first such event is King Lear's Santa’s Grotto which will be here from 4-6pm on Tues 10th and Wed 11th Dec. The team would love you to bring along the kids in your life to meet Santa, they will receive a special gift to take away with them.
