JWT Beijing Wins China Unicom

JWT Beijing has been hired to develop the brand strategy for China Unicom, the country’s second-biggest mobile operator. 

China Unicom, which has 250 million subscribers, added 11 million 3G subscribers during the first quarter, illustrating the continued to growth potential of the company in China’s booming mobile market. 

JWT Beijing, which handled China Unicom from 2006 to 2008, won back the full range of brand management services after a competitive pitch in May, 2013. JWT Beijing has been tasked with developing the brand over the next two years. 

The agency’s ongoing relationship with the brand played a key part in this win. JWT Beijing has continued to work, on a project basis, with China Unicom over the last two years, creating a series of effective campaigns that had a positive impact on the brand’s profile.
