Justice advocates Sibil 'Fox' and Robert 'Rob' Richardson - stars of the Oscar-nominated documentary TIME (2020) - return with #TimeIIWatch: A Juneteenth Campaign for Freedom, a bold new initiative launching alongside their sequel, TIME II: Unfinished Business. Timed for Juneteenth, the campaign reimagines the meaning of freedom in America today.
Fuelled by the declaration 'To Be Free is to Free Others,' #TimeIIWatch invites more than one million participants to join a nationwide hybrid watch party experience. Combining community screenings, live-streamed conversations, and localised organising, the campaign turns film viewing into civic action.
TIME II marks the directorial debut of Fox Rich, who captivated audiences as the family matriarch in TIME. “If TIME was the cry, TIME II is the call,” says Rich. “It’s a mirror exposing cracks in the justice system and a megaphone confronting mass incarceration.”
Rob Rich, who served 21 years at Louisiana State Penitentiary (Angola), adds, “This isn’t about algorithms or royalties—it’s about people power. Freedom isn’t free, and this campaign asks audiences to invest their voices.”
To amplify its impact, the campaign will donate $1 from every watch party registration to the Amistad Research Centre - the nation’s largest independent Black archive - with a goal of raising $1 million to preserve vital Black narratives at a time when they are increasingly under threat.
Produced by Rich Time Production and presented by Twin Pine Productions in association with TillSow Studios, TIME II exemplifies a deeply collaborative creative process. TillSow helped shape the project from development through final delivery, producing a feature documentary driven by emotional and cinematic depth.
Hope Harris, co-executive producer and founder of TillSow, notes, “It has been an honour to make this film and tell Fox and Rob’s beautiful story. A story that exemplifies the plight of countless families across our nation. Their lives are filled with love, family, and the unwavering fight for freedom. Our goal was to make a comprehensible, triumphant film that reflects the spirit of their journey. TIME II follows Fox and Rob’s continued fight, including their promise to free Rob’s nephew, Ontario. We hope it sparks encouragement, joy, and action nationwide.”
Executive producers include Alex Benton, Nick Pasternak, Rob G. Rich, and Fox Rich; co-executive producers are Hope Harris, Michael Refuerzo, and Brittany K. Barnett; with Daniel Lafrentz as producer and Joshua Montrel as co-producer.
Participants can host in-person or virtual watch parties, using the film as a launchpad for dialogue, education, and grassroots organising.
