In tribute to the late rapper Juice WRLD, a music video for his latest track ‘Empty Out Your Pockets’ has been released on Fortnite. Created by Epic Games in partnership with Wizz, animation directors CRCR, and with consultation from Interscope Records and Grade A Productions, the music video is also a thank you to the artist’s fans – many of whom are Fortnite players.
An in-game concert – Remix: The Finale featuring Snoop Dogg, Eminem, Ice Spice, and Juice WRLD – exclusively debuted the song posthumously. Over 14 million concurrent players turned up for the online event, and over three million streamed it online.
Players were then surprised with a first look at the official music video – you can check it out here.
The animated music video was rendered in Unreal Engine, bridging the gaming and creative worlds. Conceptually, it invites viewers to follow behind Juice WRLD as he experiences the positive moments in his life – cut short at the age of 21 – from concerts to collaborating with music producer Marshmello to riding on his motorbike. Striking the tone between nostalgic and uplifting, the heartfelt celebration of the major artist has been met with outpourings of love from fans online.
Juice WRLD has now been added as a playable character within Fortnite.
The official music video for 'Empty Out Your Pockets' is available on Juice WRLD’s YouTube channel. 'Empty Out Your Pockets' will also be added officially as a bonus track onto Juice WRLD’s final album, ‘The Party Never Ends’.
