Following last year’s star-studded campaign, Mushroom Creative House has delivered another powerful 2023 Ausmusic T-Shirt Day promotion, designed to raise important funds for music workers in need.
Developed in collaboration with music charity, Support Act, this year’s campaign showcases legendary Australian artist Jimmy Barnes, alongside Amy Shark and Budjerah, who perform a stunning re-recording of INXS’s iconic 'Never Tear Us Apart', originally co-written by Andrew Farriss & Michael Hutchence.
Amy Shark and Budjerah re-recorded ‘Never Tear Us Apart’ at Studio 301 in Sydney, under the expert guidance of revered Australian producer, Mark Opitz - who produced five records with INXS, including ‘Shabooh Shoobah’.
The production was filmed at Sydney’s iconic City Recital Hall and utilises imaginative storytelling elements to illustrate the importance of a behind-the-scenes crew when delivering an immersive live performance.
Mushroom Creative House chief creative officer, Tom Macdonald, said, “We’ve been fortunate to have a wonderful relationship with Support Act. The work they do to assist the music industry is incredibly important and funds raised as part of Ausmusic T-Shirt Day have a profound impact. This campaign is about shining a light on the huge team of talented people, who work behind the scenes to help bring a performance to life.”
Support Act CEO, Clive Miller, said, “This year’s campaign for Ausmusic T-Shirt Day is our most exciting yet, and we thank Mushroom Creative House and all of the incredible artists who helped to make this vision come to life.
We know all too well that in music, every little bit matters, so this Ausmusic T-Shirt Day on Thursday 30 November, we ask anyone who loves Aussie music to show their act of support by wearing an Aussie music t-shirt and making a donation so that we can continue our crucial work supporting the fabric of the music industry.”
As part of an expanded partnership, the team at Mushroom Creative House also delivered a creative rebrand of the 2023 Ausmusic T-Shirt Day campaign, which included a reimagined art direction and secured a major Support Act sponsorship deal with AAMI coming onboard as a campaign naming rights partner. AAMI will also match the first $40,000 of Ausmusic T-Shirt Day donations from Thursday, 9 November.
Mushroom Creative House Music Strategist, Cara Gudinski said: “Our aim with the creative rebrand was to build a colourful and contemporary design, one that exists at the crossroad between music and fashion. It was important for us to design a creative identity that was a fun celebration of expression.”
A limited-edition Mushroom 50th anniversary Ausmusic T-Shirt Day tee is also
on sale now, with all proceedings donated to Support Act.
Today’s announcement comes after last year’s Ausmusic T-Shirt Day campaign, which received wide acclaim and featured considerable star power. Produced by Mushroom Creative House, the content included Hollywood A-lister Chris Hemsworth, alongside Jessica Mauboy, Darren Hayes, and many more.
