Island of Madeira Wishes Ronaldo Happy Birthday with a Big ‘Siiiiiiii’

The Island of Madeira is famous for many reasons. One of which was born 34 years ago, on February 5th, of 1985. You’ve probably heard of him. His name is Cristiano Ronaldo, one of the best football players of all time.

Instead of celebrating the birthday of their biggest star with the typical birthday song, VMLY&R Lisbon and Madeira Promotion Bureau, decided to do something much louder.

Inspired by Cristiano’s famous goal celebration, we asked the people of Madeira to shout 'Siiiiii' as loud as they could.

For two days, we travelled around the island, looking for the most breathtaking views, meaningful locations and cheerful people to help us deliver this special message while showcasing the best Madeira has to offer its visitors.

Our shout was heard all over the world and arrived to its destination. Cristiano shared our video and thanked the people of Madeira on his Facebook and Instagram pages, reaching more than 10 million views, 3 million likes and 10,500 shares in the first 24 hours alone. And the Visit Madeira social media pages got 8,000 new followers that can translate into new touristic opportunities for the island. What a great gift for Cristiano and for his homeland.
