Brummie Brussels Sprouts inspired by Peaky Blinders revealed as main antagonists in online Aldi teaser
The ongoing saga of Kevin the Carrot looks set to take a dark and menacing turn this Christmas. The plucky carrot is the hero of supermarket Aldi’s Christmas campaigns and a teaser released on Twitter has revealed that this year he’ll be up against Peaky Blinder-inspired villains Russel Sprout and his gang of ‘Leafy Blinders’.
Kevin debuted in 2016 and has since battled evil parsnips, fallen in love and started a family. The mascot was devised by McCann Manchester and has been animated by Psyop directing team Todd Mueller and Kylie Matulick and produced by Stink every year. Judging by the online teaser, the animation style looks to be the same this year, though inspired by the gritty styling of the hit BBC show Peaky Blinders.
For those living under a rock, Peaky Blinders follows a criminal gang living in Birmingham in the UK during the 1920s. It’s become something of a global phenomenon and this summer there was even a Peaky Blinder-themed music festival.
