A total of 103 companies have now been awarded the IPA People First Promise for demonstrating their commitment to the positive mental health and wellbeing of their people. Today’s publication of this additional wave of 36 successful companies, which adds to the 67 announced earlier this year, coincides with National Stress Awareness Day (6 November 2024).
The People First Promise initiative was launched by IPA President Josh Krichefski this year to encourage those active in this space to use this badge of honour to assert their duty of care to their current employees, to future talent and to clients.
The list of successful companies comprises brands, media owners, industry bodies and agencies, all of whom have successfully provided evidence of their various activity that supports their people’s mental health and wellbeing, under the three interconnected and interdependent categories of Empower, Support and Prevent.
The successful additional wave of companies attaining the People First Promise are:
Acast; Anomaly; Ardmore; Auto Trader; BBJ&K; Blis Global Ltd; Born Social; Clear Channel UK; Cravens; Creative UK; Croud; December19 Ltd; FCB London; Google; Krow; Leo Burnett; M I Media; Mail Metro Media; Mobsta; New Commercial Arts; One Agency Media Ltd; Ozone; Pablo; piqniq; Publicis London; RAPP; Rebel Lion Advertising; Red Pill Productions Limited; Rock Kitchen Harris; Sky Media; Smithfield; Snap; The Behaviours Agency; Union Advertising Agency; VML and Waste Creative.
Examples of provisions given to employees cited by these companies include: having a GP who comes into the office weekly; hosting financial clinics offering bespoke advice: running reverse mentoring to enable junior members of the team to receive guidance, from someone more senior in the company; organising a visit from a sleep posture expert to help employees’ optimise sleep quality; and many more.
In line with National Stress Awareness Day, the IPA ‘Adland Wellbeing Lab’, which accompanies the People First Promise and which contains a wealth of helpful information for companies and individuals, has been updated with new resources, including video testimonials and blogs.
Josh Krichefski, president of the IPA said, “I am delighted to see that in less than a year, over 100 companies have become proud badge holders of the IPA People First Promise. Crucially, what these badges represent is the fact that thousands of industry people are being rightfully supported and empowered by their employers to prioritise their mental health and wellbeing. As I’ve said from the start of my Presidency, looking after our people isn’t just the right, moral thing to do. When people feel valued and supported, they're more motivated, productive, and loyal. Plus, it creates a more positive and fulfilling environment for everyone. Congratulations and thank you to all these companies for investing in their people.”
The IPA will be hosting a People First Lab Breakfast on Thursday 13 February to showcase a selection of initiatives that organisations are implementing to help the mental wellbeing of their employees.
