Following its world premiere at the 2024 Edinburgh International Film Festival, Daniel Reisinger’s debut feature 'And Mrs' premiered in Sydney this week
Independent production company Infinity Squared celebrated the debut feature of one of their longstanding directors, Daniel Reisinger, with an exclusive screening in Sydney on Wednesday night.

Hot off its world premiere at the 2024 Edinburgh International Film Festival and US theatrical release, Reisinger’s new film, And Mrs (Universal / Netflix UK) is a bawdy yet touching comedy featuring a who's who of UK comedy. The film has received critical acclaim, with The Hollywood Reporter calling it “a masterclass in comedy” with “a stellar ensemble”, and The Guardian, “a cathartic romcom” that “rides an emotional crescendo”.

The film has struck an emotional chord with audiences as it explores the universal experience of grief through a unique lens. When Gemma (BAFTA award winner Aisling Bea) finds her fiancé (Emmy nominee Colin Hanks) dead at home she makes the unusual decision to fight for the right to marry the love of her life posthumously - vowing to overcome public opinion, the law of the land and her loved one’s objections. With funny and moving performances, Daniel Reisinger’s romantic comedy is an unconventional celebration of love ‘till death do us part’.

The film stars BAFTA-winning actress Aisling Bea (Living With Yourself, This Way Up), Emmy nominee Colin Hanks (Fargo, Dexter, King Kong), Billie Lourd (Ticket To Paradise, Book Smart), 5 x Emmy nominee Harriet Walter (Succession, Ted Lasso, Killing Eve), Paul Kaye (After Life), Susan Wokoma (Enola Holmes), comedian Nish Kumar and Oscar nominee Elizabeth McGovern (Downton Abbey).

"I was excited by the idea that we could break the taboo around death and grieving that says you shouldn't use humour during such a dark time in your life,” says director, Daniel Reisinger. “We wanted to explore the ways in which we mourn and society's expectation that we do it ‘properly’. You could look at Gemma's behaviour in the film as insane, but And Mrs argues that everyone's journey is unique and you should be allowed to mourn however you want.”

The exclusive screening for friends, family and colleagues was held at the QT Sydney on Wednesday 13 November, before the official premiere in Reisinger’s home city of Sydney on 19 November. The film will also be released nationally, premiering in Melbourne on 7 November and Brisbane on 14 November as part of the Palace Cinemas' British Film Festival 2024 with a limited run of 100+ screenings across all major capitals.

And Mrs is the directorial film debut of Daniel Reisinger who has a strong commercial background, with notable work including Tourism Australia’s ‘Australia in 8D’ campaign during COVID and KFC: Michelin Impossible which won numerous global awards including Cannes Lions, the Grand Effie and Spikes Asia awards.

Daniel has also shot TV at home in Australia and in the US, including launching the Australian Drunk History which topped its timeslot and was the country’s most trending show online. His US Sitcom, Sideswiped, which reached 55+ million views and received great reviews, starred Emmy winner Jason Sudeikis, Emmy winner Thomas Lennon, Golden Globe Nominee Rosanna Arquette, Emmy nominee Christopher MacDonald and Golden Globe Winner Peter Gallagher.
