Nigel Simpkiss has shot two films for Maserati for the launch of their new Quattroporte at the Detroit Motor Show. Nigel has been shooting cars for over 15 yrs, initially as one of the main feature directors for BBC’s Top Gear and more latterly as a commercial director in both Europe and the US.
The campaign, 'Life’s Grand Tour' was shot entirely in Italy for international advertising agency – The House World Wide. Independent produced both films and stills as part of an integrated production with Independent’s associate company BRW Filmland based in Milan.
The first film to be released is a fascination piece shot in studio. It shows the cars beautiful and bold design as well as its luxurious interior.
The brand film was shot over seven days on location in Italy. The ‘Grand Tour’ takes in a number of different characters and locations which illustrate Maserati’s motoring heritage, Italian glamour and racing performance. Shot in October 2012, the shoot started in beautiful Tuscan sunshine and high temperatures and a week later, finished in the snow of Mount Amiata.
As part of the same production and in keeping with the campaign idea, the photographer Justin Leighton accompanied the main crew to deliver a number of static and dynamic shots consistent with the look, feel and locations of the brand film.
