Almost everyone can tell you the name of their favourite local bar. It's the friendly neighbourhood watering hole that welcomes you and your friends; it’s the oh so familiar after-work spot colleagues flock to. For Boston’s Back Bay neighbourhood, Flash’s was a go-to industry haunt for decades, so when the opportunity presented itself for ELEMENT to make it their new headquarters, it was a no-brainer.
“Some of the most creative ideas are sparked over a walk, a meal or a round of drinks,” says Eran Lobel, ELEMENT’s CEO and executive producer. “When this iconic industry bar became available to us, we knew it would be the perfect setting to bring that creative energy to our work for our clients and community.”
“Moving into this new space, signifies a creative recharge for us,” says Kristen Kearns, ELEMENT’s COO and executive producer. “Coming out of the pandemic, we all needed a fresh start. A place that embraces the cultural history of our industry, but also a place where we will explore opportunity as we look to the future.”
ELEMENT’s new office offers an open, collaborative work environment. A large conference room abuts the street with large glass windows encasing the space with natural light. Edit suites exhibit a mid-century-modern vibe that elicits a creative ambience for clients and creatives. It seems fitting that the bar’s reputation for being a reliable and a friendly pillar of the industry will live on through a company with exactly the same reputation.
There are only a few production companies that have been able to survive 25 years. ELEMENT’s key is to remain nimble and strive to find strategic and creative solutions whenever new problems come to light. "It's never been done" does not dissuade us; but reminds us why we got into this profession and what can be so Invigorating about it,” states Matthew O’Rourke, executive producer.
That’s precisely what they’ve done for global agencies as well as leading brands like Dunkin’, CVS, Fidelity, NASA, Tito’s Vodka and most recently a campaign for Zenni Optical and The Kittles Collection.
ELEMENT remains focused on their mission of doing great work with great people, and never shying from challenges. Their team’s commitment to creative problem solving has earned them the trust and respect from their industry. As we concluded our discussion, we asked Eran and Kristen what they think is next for the future of video content.
“AI is rapidly evolving our industry, and like many other new technologies of the past, it is making significant changes to the process of making content. Embracing new technologies as tools has always been one of the keys to our success,” says Eran.
“The trend of wanting more content within the same budget as a 30 second spot, is not going away. More platforms, more splintering of attention, will continue to occur. The need for agility and a greater understanding of the strategy is more valuable than ever,” says Kristen Kearns.
The decision to commandeer Flash’s Bar not only symbolises their unconventional and innovative approach to resolving challenges, but it also represents a new era of ELEMENT. Entering this new space will bring new partnerships, new ideas and new opportunities – all welcomed with a smile.
