Brent to carry out his infamous dance routine to Benjamin Price’s ‘Electric Parts’
A trio of tracks from the Hummingbird Music library have been licensed for Ricky Gervais’ UK summer blockbuster, David Brent: Life on the Road.
Playing a starring role in the film, tracks from Hummingbird’s artists The Fades, Stevie Fitz and Benjamin Price all appear on a star-studded soundtrack that includes the likes of David Bowie and Chris Martin, as well a number of Gervais-penned Brent tracks.
Brent will be carrying out his iconic dance routine, made famous in British TV’s cult-classic comedy The Office, to the electronic sound of Price’s Electric Parts.
Anne Booty, Sync Manager at Hummingbird, comments: “We’re incredibly excited to be involved in such a huge project. It’s great exposure for all three of our artists, and a great example of how Hummingbird can be used as a platform to propel musical careers to new heights.”
Benjamin Price, Hummingbird artist, comments: "I've absolutely loved working with Hummingbird so far and to get the chance to have a track featured in such a high profile film is a testament to the opportunities their service can offer artists. They're great to work with and their approach to sync puts your music in front of the right people who will use it."
London-based band The Fades’ pounding rock track, Devil’s Gun, also features on the soundtrack, as does Blimper’s Disco, a dance track from Jersey-based producer Stevie Fitz.
Stevie Fitz, Hummingbird artist, adds: “Anne and the rest of the team at Hummingbird sourced a fantastic track placement opportunity for me in David Brent: Life On The Road. Their assistance, guidance and transparency throughout the process of finding Blimper’s Disco a permanent home has been exemplary and I couldn't have asked for a better service, coupled with the fact they support the excellent Nordoff Robbins - thank you so much.”
Katie Mavroleon, Co-Producer on David Brent: Life on the Road, comments: “Hummingbird were really friendly, easy to license from and they have a great catalogue of music. We loved knowing that a percentage of the license cost was going towards a music therapy charity, and we would definitely use them again for future film projects.”
Launched in 2015, Hummingbird Music has been disrupting the production and library music model with its non-exclusive search, sync and licensing service, offering a way for advertisers, brands, and film and program makers to discover affordable music. Departing from the traditional music library model, Hummingbird offers non-exclusivity agreements to composers and artists, enabling them to retain control of the music they create.
David Brent: Life on the Road was released in the UK on 19th August 2016 by Entertainment One.
