Hummingbird Music is delighted to announce a number of outstanding signings, with four new artists joining the non-exclusive search, sync and licensing service.
Hummingbird kick off the New Year with the addition of Owen Duff, Haula, Autoheart and Jamie Grant to a roster that already boasts the talent of many high-profile artists, including Tom Wegg-Prosser, Guy Farley and The Helmholtz Resonators.
Anne Booty, Head of Sync at Hummingbird, comments: “We’re incredibly proud to have signed such outstanding talents to our offering. It’s a testament to the disruptive but creatively fair model that we operate, and we want to go from strength to strength this year, continuing to attract diverse, high-quality talent to our non-exclusive library.”
Owen Duff is an independent singer-songwriter from London. A keen musician since the age of 5, Owen now writes, performs and produces his own songs – playing piano, guitar and drums among other instruments. Citing musical influences include Laura Nyro, Joni Mitchell, Stevie Wonder, Björk, jazz pianist Keith Jarrett and Bernad Herrmann’s Hitchcock scores, he’s released five EPs and a 20 track album which, rather than traditionally releasing, was hidden in secret locations around the world.
Hailing from Uganda, Haula is a London-based singer-songwriter and pianist. With her African roots, classical piano training and myriad of disparate musical influences, Haula’s music is an amalgamation of beautiful rich melodies, Blues, Soul and Modern pop. Haula is currently recording her debut EP, which is set for release later this year.
(L-R) New signings Jamie Grant, Autoheart and Owen Duff
Formed in 2011, Autoheart are a London-based indie-pop group composed of singer Jody Gadsden, keys player Simon Neilson and guitarist Barney JC. The trio have amassed hundreds of thousands of views on YouTube for tracks including debut single ‘Sailor Song’, which they’ve performed live on BBC Radio 2, and ‘Moscow’, which gained the attention of Stephen Fry for its proud message of support to the Russian LGBT community.
Jamie Grant is a Canadian producer and musician whose sound has been described as ‘melodic dance-infused pop, with a blend of synth and rock’. Grant’s work spans many genres, from indie pop to alternative dance, and he released his debut four-track EP – ‘Youth’ – late 2014.
Disrupting the production and library music model, Hummingbird Music is a way for advertisers, brands, and film and program makers to discover affordable music. The company has departed from the traditional music library model by offering non-exclusivity agreements to composers and artists, enabling them to retain control of the music they create. As a result, Hummingbird is able to attract quality content that cannot be found in existing music libraries, and offer it at an affordable price.
