Humble Expands with West Hollywood Hub

Legendary movie biz haunt converted to new hybrid studio

Call the caterers and DJ’s, humble has arrived.  The bi-coastal hybrid production and post production studio has officially moved in to its new L.A. digs, taking over the 6,000 square-foot space at 1265 S. Cochran Ave. near West Hollywood that’s the former home of Caviar Content.

Once the setting for legendary industry parties, it’s now the production hub for the increasing amount of West Coast work being handled by humble and its directors.  Heading up the office is West Coast EP Ned Brown, who joined humble early last year to spearhead the company’s West Coast expansion.

“The space is a going to serve as an ideal base for all of our operations on the West Coast,” says Brown, who points out that humble just shot a campaign in Hawaii for McKinney and Nationwide insurance that was directed by Jerry Dugan and Sorrel Ahlfeld and produced out of L.A., and the office is busy prepping a Nissan shoot for Zimmerman that will roll shortly.

Most notably, the L.A. office served as the production center for the six-spot “Happy Honda Days” TV campaign starring pop crooner Michael Bolton that aired heavily throughout the holiday season. Created by Honda agency RPA, Adweek hailed the work, saying “the generally fantastical series wins points for poking fun at itself with melodramatic guitar solos and idiotic lyrical gems.”  It was directed by Whitey McConnaughy, who signed with humble last fall.

In addition to Brown, humble Coordinator Brynne Copping and Office Manager Shalane Miller will be working out of the office full time.  Brown reports that the company plans to sign additional West Coast-based directorial talent to the roster in the coming weeks.

Eric Berkowitz, humble President and EP, says the New York office will continue to be the base for humble’s post production and visual effects departments, but adds that “both offices will work seamlessly in support of one another. With the growing body of work we’ve been shooting in L.A., not to mention the work we’re drawing from West Coast agencies, it’s become essential that we expand our footprint there. That’s just what Ned’s done for us in landing this space. He’s also found us one cool spot for our own parties. Stay tuned.”
