This past weekend at pop culture's biggest event, San Diego Comic-Con, America’s fastest growing TV brand TCL chose Polygon, the next-generation entertainment network, as its experiential partner to showcase its brand. Breaking out from the noise adjacent to the main convention, TCL and Polygon hosted exclusive programming with luminaries from the space:
- A live conversation with Genndy Tartakovsky, creator of Dexter's Laboratory, Samurai Jack, Star Wars: Clone Wars and Adult Swim’s upcoming series, Genndy Tartakovsky’s Primal -- hosted by Polygon’s managing editor, Chelsea Stark. The discussion will look back at Genndy’s iconic work through the years and look forward to the highly anticipated upcoming series.
- Live conversation with the creator of Cartoon Network’s Steven Universe, Rebecca Sugar -- hosted by Polygon’s comics editor, Susana Polo -- exploring how video games have influenced the development of the series and upcoming movie while diving deeper into the music you love from Rebecca.
- After a full day of programming, Polygon and TCL hosted the Multiplayer Party on the rooftop of the Theatre Box. TCL’s latest 4K HDR TVs will be prominently featured throughout the venue for an engaging experience, including gaming stations where fans can try their hand at the latest titles from Polygon’s Essential list of party games. Party-goers played games with the Polygon editorial team, including senior entertainment editor, Matt Patches; comics editor, Susana Polo; managing editor, Chelsea Stark; and senior video producer, Simone de Rochefort. The Multiplayer Party was also be co-hosted by, actor and maker of things Janina Gavankar, who is playing a lead role in the upcoming Warner Bros. film, Torrance, and is also known for playing Iden Versio in EA’s Star Wars: Battlefront II.
The response and reception to each event was overwhelming with each event’s guest list filling up within minutes of going live, exhibiting the power of Polygon’s fanbase of over 20 million readers a month (comScore May 2019) visiting the network as a trusted guide for what to pay attention to in the entertainment and gaming space.
