How does a production company with no footprint in the US work on multi-million dollar productions? Easy - well, not easy in the slightest, but we’ve created something at KODE which is unusual; we don’t do ’normal’ and we’ve never once shied away from a challenge. It’s the bedrock of how a production company with no funding, and no industry experience can start life, survive and then thrive; say ‘ask us, what’s the worst that can happen?’
Our humble beginnings are part of why we’ve gone from a small office in a shared space to having over 30 employees, a photography department, an Immersive Tech department. A need for an additional awards shelf. Content led, commercially successful, and a group of people representing the world; Africa? Yep. Asia? Absolutely…Europe? Well, yeah, that too!
We have produced work for agencies in the US whilst shooting in Europe (and LA - which was great fun, and require a fair amount of sun cream), on budgets ranging from $200k to $3m. The desire to make great creative come to life is our purpose, and it’s why we’ve been able to work with the likes of FCB NY, Iris LA, Translation, Hogarth NY, Giant Spoon…great people, big names who all put their faith in us and our talented roster.
Speaking of rosters, ours is one that represents the world around us, with voices representing so much of society. We’re vociferous in our desire to be leaders kicking down doors and giving platforms for talent where previously there simply wasn’t one.
The creative world isn’t what it was, we accept that the time of paying off a mortgage with one job doesn’t really exist - although we’re open to ones that pay off a chunk of it, and so we embrace the new world…
