Houseplants are Reimagined as Romantic Partners in Lonely Plants Club's Match-Making Campaign

Speed dating has turned over a new leaf with the announcement of a brand-new way of helping houseplant enthusiasts find their leafy love match. The Joy of Plants has launched the Lonely Plants Club – an event and online quiz that pairs people with their perfect ‘plantner’; just in time for cuffing season. 

The colourful quiz, designed by illustrator Bella Green, poses five simple questions to help determine which category of houseplant an individual is best matched to, based on their personality and lifestyle – much like a dating app but without the bad chat.

As part of the campaign photographer Dan Wong has captured a series of still life images bringing to life each of the five categories of houseplants - the adventurer, romantic, intellectual, fitness fanatic and pet friendly.

He worked alongside RHS Chelsea Flower Show winner Ian Drummond who created five distinct houseplant displays designed around each of the categories. From the heroic cacti and sporty succulents in the fitness fanatic category to the tropical, lush explosion of colour in the adventurer category – each display encapsulates the different personalities of the plants.

Kitsch neon signs against moody lighting and a splash of colour gives each display a subtle nod to late night bars and date nights. Who would have thought houseplants could look so sexy?
