Houseboat recently rolled out a hybrid production platform connecting agencies and brands to independent artists across multiple disciplines and roles. Founded by Molly Mitchell, this approach to talent sourcing prioritises inclusivity by hiring diverse artists within the Houseboat community, which includes a range of talent from directors to DPs and editors to animators.
In addition to representation, Houseboat also provides production support with Mitchell as executive producer. She not only bids and supervises each project from start to finish, but she also ensures that the talent is selectively curated and tailored to the project’s needs, budget, and matched to the agency and brand’s style for an effective and positive experience for everyone.
Mitchell exudes excitement and passion when speaking of Houseboat's philosophy, saying: “Nothing fits in a box anymore. We live in a time where the industry landscape and demands change day to day. We need to be flexible and adapt to unexpected hurdles or opportunities as they come, and accommodate each project we encounter. Now more than ever, it’s crucial for leading creatives to take risks and make an impact. Houseboat is built to float and shift for that exact reason.”
Having come up in the industry in both production and post, Mitchell realised that the previous model needed updating and that production, collaboration, and connecting talent has no borders or walls any more. “It’s the reason I launched Houseboat,” Mitchell says. “There are phenomenal artists in our industry that I want to work with, so I created an opportunity to allow for that.”
Houseboat is encouraging the industry to look beyond the roster and lend fresh voices to the campaigns of the future. Mitchell’s goal is to elevate underrepresented artists and foster new emerging talent.
